Pursuing Spiritual Maturity - Are You Growing Spiritually?
That’s more than a casual reflection—it’s a call to examine the direction our spiritual lives are taking. Are we just learning more about God, or are we becoming more like Him?
In this week's episode of Life’s Uncertain Journey, I was joined by my beloved podcast team and our beautiful community of women, and together, we took a closer look at what it truly means to grow in Christ. Our focus was on the pursuit, purpose, and power of spiritual growth, and the Holy Spirit met us right in the middle of that conversation.
We shared scriptures from Philippians 3:12–14, where Paul admitted that he had not yet arrived. He had to press forward through his spiritual growth. Imagine Paul the Apostle admitting that he had a ways to go to get to the "prize". He was on a journey to spiritual maturity, and so are we! We also visited James 1:2–4, where we were reminded that along this journey, we will have trials to face. These trials are actually tools God uses to develop our endurance, patience, and faith.
Several courageous women shared their personal testimonies—stories of pain, breakthrough, and deep transformation. Cheryl talked about finding God again after a significant loss. Dorothy shared how God is giving her boldness to speak where she used to be silent. And Jan reflected on how letting go of control brought peace into a season of uncertainty. These were not just stories—they were evidence of the spiritual growth in their lives.
We were reminded that growth isn’t automatic—it’s intentional. It happens when we:
- Stay in the Word
- Lean into prayer
- Stay accountable in community
- And remain teachable, even when it’s uncomfortable
Spiritual maturity isn’t about knowing everything—it’s about becoming more surrendered, more fruitful, and more like Jesus.
In closing, I shared a dream the Lord gave me that confirmed my spiritual growth when I was young in the faith. I had grown from a child-like faith to one that obeyed His instructions without question which brought about the salvation of many others. He confirmed His divine orchestration of my life, even when I couldn’t see the full picture of what I would become. That dream was a reminder: we grow not just through knowledge, but through obedience, faith and surrender.
As you reflect on your own journey this week, I encourage you to ask yourself:
- Am I growing?
- What fruit is showing up in my life?
- Who am I becoming?
Spiritual growth is not just possible—it’s promised to those who pursue God with their whole heart.
Beloved, let’s keep growing - together.
